INSURANCE BENEFITS

Each employee of State Employees Credit Union is given the opportunity to participate in the insurance benefits as outlined below:

Health Insurance

State Employees Credit Union provides comprehensive medical insurance through Presbyterian Medical Services. The cost of each plan varies based on which plan is selected (single, double, or family). The Credit Union pays a percentage of the full-time employee's premium and a percentage of eligible dependents. The Credit Union pays 85% of the part-time employee's premium only. Enrollment in one of the State Employees Credit Union's medical plans automatically covers the employee under the prescription drug plan.

Dental Insurance

A comprehensive plan is offered through Guardian Dental. Costs will vary depending on tier level selected.

Vision Plan

A comprehensive plan is offered through VSP.

Basic Life Insurance

Upon completing six (6) months of employment, the Credit Union will pay 100% of the premium for life insurance for the employee only. The amount of the life insurance policy will be equal to 2 times the employee's annual salary. The maximum coverage is $250,000.

Disability

Long-Term Disability is provided to employees when off work due to a qualifying event, for thirty (30) days or more. Disability coverage pays a max 60% of the employee's salary up to a maximum dollar amount.

Flexible Spending Plan

This is a pre-tax premium conversion plan that allows State Employees Credit Union employees' premiums to be calculated and deducted pre-tax, thus lowering their taxable income.

Reimbursement Accounts

Employees may set aside money from their paychecks before it has been taxed to pay for planned expenses, such as medical deductibles and unreimbursed medical, dental and vision expenses. Reimbursement accounts may also be used for qualified dependent care expenses.

EMPLOYEE LEAVE

A variety of leave options are available for State Employees Credit Union employees as outlined below:

Family Medical Leave

Employees with at least 12 months of service who have worked at least 1250 hours in the preceding 12 months may take Family Leave, not to exceed 12 weeks in a 12-month period for qualifying events. Family Leave is deducted from existing leave balances.

Annual Leave

Annual Leave is accrued based upon years of cumulative service and is used for vacations, personal business, and time off not covered either by paid or holiday provisions. There is no limit on accrued leave.

Donation of Annual Leave

Employees may donate Annual Leave to another employee for a medical emergency with approval of the HR Director.

Sick Leave

Sick Leave is to be used for personal medical treatment or illness, or for medical treatment or illness of a member of the immediate family. Credit Union employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 3.69 hours per pay period.There is no limit on accrued leave.

Optional Birthday Fund

Employees who voluntarily participate in the Birthday Club Fund are entitled to one personal leave day each calendar year during the birth month after 6 months of participation.

Military Leave

Members of organized reserve units or the National Guard ordered to active duty training are given up to 15 workdays of paid Military Leave per federal fiscal year.

Paid Holidays

Employees receive days off with pay for observation of legal, public holidays. The standard recognized holidays are:

  • New Year's Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Veteran's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and the day after
  • Independence Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Labor Day

EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT

Retirement

The Credit Union provides a 100% employer-funded Defined Benefit Plan. Employees will start the vesting process after three years of continuous employment and will become fully vested after seven years of continuous employment. The benefits in the plan are paid in addition to any supplemental benefits received from Social Security.

401(K) Plan

Immediately upon hire, employees are enrolled in the 401(K) Plan. Contact HR for more information.
