MasterCard Secure Code

In response to consumer requests, MasterCard has developed a SecureCode program to address concerns regarding e-commerce transactions. This program allows a cardholder to select a private PIN code which will allow merchants to authenticate transactions as being made by the cardholder. The consumer can now have increased confidence that only authorized transactions will process against their account.

Why am I being asked to register for SecureCode?

  • MasterCard International has made participation in this program mandatory for all institutions issuing debit cards with the MasterCard logo. By registering your card through the SecureCode site, you are assigning a PIN number to your card that must be used with any internet purchase at participating merchants. Without a SecureCode, merchants may not receive authorization to complete your transaction.

What information is required from me to register my Debit Card?

  • When you enter the SecureCode website, either as you make your first purchase after September 1st or through the link provided below, you will be required to enter your card number and then provide the following identifying information: the last 4 digits of your social security number, your date of birth and your home phone number.

How will I use SecureCode to make an internet purchase?

  • Participating merchants will require that you enter the PIN number you have selected as you make the purchase. This field will be encrypted and the number cannot be viewed by the merchant. It will be verified by Mastercard and when the correct PIN is used, the transaction will be processed.

If I experience problems with SecureCode, who do I call?

  • Assistance with SecureCode is available 24 hours a day by calling us at 1-800-983-7328 or the phone number for your local branch office. During business hours, our trained staff will assist you and after hours please contact 1-866-707-6819 for questions.
